CHOUETTE IN COSTA RICA

Chouettes are held quite regularly in Costa Rica, usually in restaurants owned by backgammon players. One of these is La Casa de Mi Abuela Restaurant owned by Canadian Laurie Robichaud in the San José 2000 Mall near Hotel Irazu and the other is La Granja Restaurant in Pavas owned by Rodrigo Apéstegui, a Poker player who has recently began to play Backgammon with the Costa Rica Backgammon Association.

The mood is usually very friendly, and the chouettes are always a great learning experience. To find out when the next chouette is happening in San José or Pavas, contact Mario Lizano.

Marjorie Serrano and Milton Gonzalez Jr. also play in the chouette. Stakes are usually 1,000 colones a point (or $2 U.S.) and food is always great at the La Casa de Mi Abuela and La Granja Restaurants.
